New Toy (Monday 12/03/07)

Hey! Right now I am using my (or rather, our) 1-day old, brand new laptop to blog on the Internet! I know it makes no difference to you but it's a hell lot of difference to me. Discomfort and excitement are just two of the various 'things' I am feeling right now. Having said that, I am in actual fact not over my old notebook yet.

Up till this morning, I have been living about 7 weeks without a laptop actually. And I almost died. Yeah, oddly enough I seem to have this strange lifeline with the existence of a personal computer. So the recent absence of a darling have made me very lifeless. Honestly, I still don't know what happened to that notebook. All I know is, something went very wrong somewhere with that darling IBM Think Pad of mine. It just refused to work normally. Sob, sob.

Well, there was a choice of sending it for service (which is like to countries outside Singapore, the closest being Australia) or fixing things myself. Yeah, fixing things myself. I know I could do that (ha!). But I did neither. I left my darling as it is finally but only because Kenji decided to buy a brand new one - we both know that machines don't last very long anyways.

So thanks to Kenji, my Think Pad got replaced. But that was after about 7 weeks after it kind of 'died'. Amazingly with the replacement, now I, too, (feel like I) am alive again! Like I have mentioned before, my life seems to rely heavily on the presence of a computer unfortunately. But really, it seemed so hard to go without it once it starts to exist in my life. The past 7 weeks was indeed a torture to me.

So now that I have this new machine, I must say I am quite contented with it. Thanks to Kenji for working so hard to get us one. But I don't know, I am still hoping that one day my darling Think Pad would recover naturally (ha ha!) and function normally just like before. I can't help it, it really did me a good job while I was at uni. Those assignments and stuff, if only you knew, that was a whole lot of them. Though I may seem relieved and perhaps happy with this new machine at this moment, I guess I would still like to think of my darling Think Pad as a better notebook than what I have before me now.
