Hi all. Below is an excerpt I copied off a site I found while reading on Magic Johnson, a former professional NBA basketball player, who is HIV positive since 1991. The excerpt is simply an opinion on sex and HIV, formed by the writer himself (not Magic Johnson though), and one whose thoughts I found measuring up to my own coincidentally. So I thought I should put this up on blog as a way of bookmark-ing the site and for my own future reading reference. You may of course read on if you like but I must tell you, the excerpt sounds a little bit too preachy for some especially if you are not quite on the acceding side. Then again do enjoy. It is, to me, an interestingly conservative yet logical conclusion I have ever heard/read/seen published in this generation, ever. Oh, and by the way, have you guys had your HIV test done yet??
Here goes the excerpt:
Pre-marital / extra-marital sexual encounter is the major cause of HIV transmission. It seems to me that the only logical / sensible solution to this threat is for us all to start practicing what God introduced in the first place when He introduced Adam to his lovely wife, Eve. Beware!
So,
Let us teach our children that premarital sex is not only a sin but a game of Russian Roulette as well (despite the picture advertisers and movies portray). It's a matter of life and death. Some sins we will have to pay for at judgement. But there are a few we will have to pay for in premature death. Even the use of safeguards isn't foolproof.
Interestingly conservative, yet it sounds right in every way though there may be an absence in statistics to really prove that "pre-marital/extra-marital sexual encounter is the major cause of HIV transmission". Nevertheless taking into consideration the world that I have been exposed to and the people whom I have met, this logically sounded excerpt will be one message I believe I will hold on to, not just because of the logic behind it but also because it reflects my thoughts from encounters in this life journey. Yet again, having to think of such message as "interestingly conservative" makes it all a very bad news for the world today, doesn't it?
