Just another usual day in Singapore.

It’s Tuesday today and Kenji is off from work. Kenji's off days aren't on Tuesdays actually (in fact they aren't even fixed) so there is indeed no reason for me to link the two sentences together. But anyway Kenji's off day on a weekday would definitely have to mean something more to me than just staying home and being in each other's pocket for the next couple of hours at the very least.

So today lunch was un-homecooked. Not quite the ordinary actually especially because I normally only cook lunch when Kenji's around. So we had lunch outside for a change (sort of). What's more, with Kenji craving for catfish and something Indonesian, we decided on a restaurant we know that serves catfish and Indo food at all times. So we dined at Ayam Bakar Ojolali, an Indonesian restaurant, which we regularly go to in Orchard.

At the restaurant however, we came across my former student. My former student was working with his mom. It wasn’t the first time I saw him there though. So I was not surprised to see him again this afternoon. In fact I had even expected to see him before arriving at the place (and maybe even in the near future if I were to patronize the restaurant again) after having bumped into him there several times in the past.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, lunch at the restaurant was excellent, as always. Kenji enjoyed his catfish to the max. I, too, enjoyed my all-time favorite Rawon dish from that outlet. But I thought I should have ordered the same catfish dish that Kenji ordered because the fish was really big and tasted so good. Anyway after lunch, Kenji and I headed straight to Centrepoint for a bit of banking and shopping - it is after all payday!!

Centrepoint is one of many shopping malls located in the Orchard Road shopping belt, in case you might want to know. It is about 10 minutes walk from the Indonesian restaurant I was at for lunch earlier. Although it is possible to take a bus to Centrepoint, Kenji and I had decided to just walk to the mall. So we passed by crowds of people (as per normal) hanging out at Orchard as we headed under the sun to Centrepoint.

But honestly, we didn't even reach Centrepoint. We stopped by Orchard Point where we were glued to some books that were (kind of) put on display but were also up for sale. We ended up buying three books from the outdoor Big Bookshop stall: ‘Malay Japanese English Dictionary’, ‘Pocket Guide Survival Tips: 150 Ways To Survive Emergency Situations’ and ‘Ocean: Revealing The Secrets Of The Deep’.

Looking back at the books, I now think they all sound so random! But the books are of our main interest anyway, and besides we kind of need the trilingual dictionary. So it wasn't as random as how they seemed to be. But after buying those books, we decided to leave for home so we walked back to Takashimaya where we were meant to take the public bus that brings us home. In the end, we didn't even make our way to Centrepoint.

On our way to Takashimaya however, we were stopped by a young lady who came up to us (and upon rejection ran after us) as she asked us to be the faces for ads her company was making. The whole idea tickled me no doubt, but anyway, the young lady who claimed to have come from an advertising company later told us to come over for interview the very next day. But we weren’t at all interested, unfortunately. So, we left her for home right away after that.

So yeah, that was it, my day's account...nothing much as you can see, just a usual day in Sg I thought. So what about yours?
