Bad weather keeps me at home.

Finally, Im writing...

Yesterday I woke up at 6 just to iron Kenjis long-sleeve white shirt. I know its not a big deal for many of you but it was for me. As far as I can remember, I havent woken up for Kenji that early this year (the ironing though was a routine). And so, for such devotion, I decided I should go back to sleep almost immediately, needless to say, in particular after Kenji ensured me that he was fine with me going dead to the world and not see him off at the gate. Good husband! So as soon as I heard the main door closed, I went back into dreamland and the rest were beyond narration. And then at about 7 I was woken up for the second time but this time by the sound of rain. The rain got heavier 30 minutes later as I was tossing and turning so I finally got myself out of bed but only to close the opened windows of the bedroom and the kitchen - how pathetic. The other windows of the flat though have been kept closed lately because of construction works so they were fine. After a brief window-check, well, guess what happened next? I returned to my room and resumed life in fantasy. Ahh, the weather was just too good!

My plans for the entire day yesterday was nothing much. All I wanted to do was just to get down to Bukit Panjang Plaza to do some groceries at FairPrice. But it was raining heavily and FairPrice is quite distant so I had to put groceries off at that time as I prefer to do it when it is not raining. Besides I tend to buy foodstuff in bulk. Well, it's not like there are no other grocers around but I personally prefer to shop at FairPrice because I think it has quality products. FairPrice is a neighborhood supermarket which sells a wide variety of goods, ranging from groceries to frozen products, dry goods and toiletries. Although FairPrice may be quite a drive from our flat, I think I havent really mind spending a bit of my money on bus rides, plus my time and energy to the mall repeatedly just to do groceries. While I do get the help of Kenji who normally does groceries on his off days and regardless of rain or shine, unlike me, Kenji prefers to do his groceries light and from the markets nearby. So Kenji shops in small amounts and the products he'd buy are normally those that are needed for the day's cooking, which is not too bad, but which also runs out very quickly. Speaking of which, he hasn't shopped for a while by now because he has been working. So now that neither one of us have gone to do groceries lately, there is nothing much that we have at home at the moment obviously. You might want to imagine what it looks like in our fridge and kitchen cabinets. Nothing sufficient to make a meal, really!

So yesterday with the weather appearing terribly impermissible for just about any plans, I had to drop all thoughts of going to Fair Price. I remember waking up to a very dark sky and gloomy weather yesterday morning. And for many hours too, the sky stayed the same way but worsened only as the weather cooled. And then there was also occasional occurrence of terrifying thunder and lightning. So I ended up staying home all day. On a happier note however, I had the company of Asyraf who came over at 2pm to seek refuge at my place just because dad was too busy to pick him up after school. Asyraf and I remained indoors even as the weather improved towards the end of the day, and I still held my supermarket-ing job back, for no reason. Today, the weather looks better than yesterday, but a bit misty. I have just checked out the weather forecast for the day and it says that there will be thunderstorm and more rain tonight. Right now though, the weather seems to have changed from misty to cloudy, and I suppose it will rain again anytime soon. Looks like I will have to put off shopping to later again! I was also thinking of going to the city actually to get some travel books on Thailand and Bali some time in the afternoon, but with the rain and all, we shall just wait and see, for bad weather keeps me at home.

Pic above shows Bukit Timah (Singapore's highest point) at night covered with thick, dark clouds indicating rain to fall for several hours.
