Last evening in Bukit Panjang, 18 minutes after sunset...
Always blocked from viewing is the rising and setting of the sun and moon, as well as the intersection of the earth and sky. And for that, I really miss Hobart and all of the other places 'with horizon' that I've seen :(

I sure agree on the significance of the open skies & spaces. I also like having water around, whether a little brook or pond, or an ocean surf.
brook (as in, creek?)? pond? ocean surf? hmm, how about pool? I used to live next to a creek that runs all the way from a mountain peak to a river in Tassie. Evening walks along the creek are really nice. But because of the creek, too, I get all sorts of insects coming to my place during winter. And since the surrounding area of the creek is reserved, it became a habitat for abundant wildlife. At times I could hear the screeches of Tasmanian devils and sometimes come across road kills in the morning.
how about you? what's your surrounding environment like? do you get to see the horizon?
yeah, brook-creek-rivulet-stream-tributary all similar.
natural pool yeah, plastic/concrete pool not much.
Here, the coastal mountain range is eastern side (morning sun blocked), ocean is on western side, so sunset is open horizon but often a bit cloudy or foggy then.
Much less traffic here though, more wild, mountain lions sometimes come down to attack sheep, dogs, etc. Many tall redwoods still around, but most got cut before. Horizon here is mainly the evening surf and looking over the bay (Humboldt Bay = Kuala Walu Wiki).
haha, you did it! the earth is now in your blog. Now you are on a space shuttle looking down on Singapore at night...:)
natural pool sounds like mud to me!! Anyway...
I really envy you being surrounded by wilderness. It'll only be a dream come true for me to live in such places. Sometimes I wish I could turn back time. I would be chatting with you from Hobart right now!!
By the way, what's "Kuala Walu Wiki". I keep seeing it in your blog or website or something like that. Is it supposed to be in part-Malay?
yeah, the earth's now in my blog. But the yellow dots will only increase gradually over time unfortunately, unlike yours :)
natural pool I was thinking in between the whitewater rapids parts of a river or creek, the water slows down and collects in pools, some mud, some sand bottom. Here in US, beavers dam the water flow and make more pools.
Kuala Walu Wiki: the area of and around the bay.
Kuala: estuary (Malay)
Walu: bay (Samoa)
Wiki: fast moving (Hawaiian)
That describes this area well in rainy season. The name Kuala Walu is one traditional name for the north part of the bay, Wiki is the traditional name for the south part of the bay, per the original (red) Indian people that lived here. I conjoin them to reflect the name of the whole bay area.
Malayo-Polynesian people may have traded here along the west coast, the names may have derived from that. Speculation.
You want lots of Yellow dots? Do a post on GODZILLA or Brittany Spears, the blog search engines will find your blog and you'll get lots of short-time visitors, but I don't think you mean that...haha
Haha! You're funny :)
